In 2019, ATON launched the @ATONCOLOR project to use colour as a medium for dialogue with people from different regions and cultures. Drawing inspiration from history and memory to define colour. Using emerging technologies to continue Japan's traditional natural dyeing techniques, giving life to fabrics while gently responding to the needs of people and the environment.
This time, Mr. Yashuharu Kuzaki, the founder of ATON, explores the emotion of ink through its figurative 'form' under the theme of 'Ink', bringing back a new expression of ink to China where ink was originated from 'Travel Silk' series exclusively developed for FRAW. The exhibition will be accompanied by ÉChapper, a home furnishing brand also managed by Yashuharu Kuzaki, and washi-based lacquer works by Kyoto artist Takumi Koizumi.
Ink is the unhurried flow of a traveller; ink is the time spent with oneself contemplating the significance of white space; ink is the rhythmic movement of thick and thin withering and moist, symbolising the rhythms and shadows of nature. These shades of ink are staggered and distributed in the space of FRAW, starting a dialogue between density and lightness, and finding a balance in the flow.
